Last night’s match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) will always be remembered as one of the best matches in the history of IPL. The terrific batting by both teams will always be worth remembering.

To top it all, the match will always be special as it created many records with the highest team total in IPL, the highest team total in IPL while cashing, the most sixes in an IPL match, most sixes in a T20 match, most runs in a T20 match, 50 runs in 16, 18, 23 and 24 balls.

However, it was a bad day for Mumbai Indians pacer Kwena Maphaka who had a nightmarish start to IPL on his debut. The 17-year-old South African, who once believed that he was better than India’s bowling legend Jasprit Bumrah, conceded 66 runs in just 4 overs, becoming the player with the most runs conceded on debut in IPL.

“I’m better bowler than Jasprit Bumrah,” Kwena had earlier stated. Now, fans and former cricket veterans are reminding him of the difference between U19 and PRO league.

Former bowling legend Dale Steyn added that it was ‘baptism of fire’ for the Kwena.

“Maphaka realising the difference between U19 and the PRO league. Baptism of fire,” Steyn posted on his X handle.

Fans also brutally trolled the 17-year-old for being overconfident and finally knowing his worth in comparison to Bumrah.

Worth mentioning, MI roped in Kwena to replace injured Sri Lankan bowler Dilshan Madushanka at the last moment. He became a star after taking 21 wickets from 6 games in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2023, the most wickets taken by a bowler in the tournament’s history. He is still in high school.
