Uttar Pradesh Police used the recent face-off between batting mainstay of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Virat Kohli, and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) mentor, Gautam Gambhir in a witty and funny way to promote awareness about its emergency helpline number 112.
Following the ugly altercation during the ongoing Indian Premier League, UP Police tweeted in Hindi, “No matter is ‘Virat’ (big) and ‘Gambhir’ (serious) for us. For any emergency situation, dial 112.” (sic)
The state police also posted a snapshot of the on-field altercation with the tweet. The tweet has reportedly gone viral within no time. It has so far garnered 1.5 million views and around 44,000 likes.
In another tweet regarding the same context, UP Police posted from its official Twitter handle @Uppolice, “Refrain from arguments, not from calling us. Dial 112 in case of any emergency.”
Notably, the state police have been on a spree posting similar tweets on matters of public interest.
The ugly altercation between Kohli and Gambhir took place during an IPL encounter between RCB and LSG on Monday night. Both Kohli and Gambhir were seen indulging in heated arguments after the completion of the match which RCB won by 18 runs.
