Rohit Sharma is going through horrible form
Though India won the first ODI against England convincingly, the hosts were found grappling with major issues.
According to former India star turned cricket expert Sanjay Manjrekar, veteran batsman and captain Rohit Sharma’s ongoing struggle for form is a huge concern for the Men in Blue.
“Rohit will likely be frustrated with how he got out. There’s definitely some pressure, and if he’s unable to score runs or make a big impact in 50-over cricket, that becomes a concern. I firmly believe that this format offers the best chance for any batter, especially those in the top three, to regain form and score big. If we don’t see Rohit Sharma at his best during this three-match series and the Champions Trophy, it will indicate a bigger issue,” said Manjrekar.
Notably, Rohit’s poor form continued in the first ODI in Nagpur as he mistimed a delivery from Saqib Mahmood and was dismissed for just two runs off seven balls. This marked his seventh single-digit score in the last 10 international innings, during which he averaged a dismal seven.
Rohit’s poor form ahead of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will definitely be a big headache for the Men in Blue.
