Rishabh Pant
Team India aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been completely ruled out of the remainder of the England series with the injury he sustained during Day One's play at Old Trafford.
Pant will be replaced by Dhruv Jurel in the wicketkeeping role like the Lord's Test. However, fans are intrigued by the question whether any replacement will be allowed to bat for Pant in the fourth Test.
As per the rules of the ICC, Pant cannot be replaced as a batter except for a concussion injury, which means Jurel cannot bat in exchange for Rishabh. This means that India will have to play the remainder of this Test match with nine wickets, that is, 10 batters.
The official replacement batter for India can come in to bat from the Fifth Test at The Oval.
Notably, Pant has been the most injury-prone for India in the ongoing series. The wicket-keeper, due to a blow to his finger, did not keep wickets throughout most of the first innings and the entire second innings in the third Test at Lord's.
This is the second straight match the batter has sustained an injury and had to leave the field. Though he was available as a batter in the Lord's Test, this time the scenario is worsened by his total absence from the remaining four days in the match.
