Team India captain Rohit Sharma returned to form with a hundred in the first innings of the third Test against England at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Thursday.

The Hitman’s (as Rohit is popularly known) 11th Test century came off 157 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes.

India were in trouble after losing quick wickets of top-order batters Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rajat Patidar. However, skipper Rohit along with star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja steadied the ship.

Rohit and Jadeja added more than 150 runs to keep the England bowlers under pressure. Jadeja brought up his half-century off 97 balls with the help of five fours.

Rohit surpassed former captain Sourav Ganguly on the list of most runs for India in International cricket. Ganuly has scored 18,575 runs in his illustrious career.

Earlier, India won the match and opted to bat first. Notably, Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel were given their debut caps in the match.
