Team India’s stand-in skipper KL Rahul failed to perform with the bat yet again in the second Test match against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday.
Coming as an opener Rahul struggled to manage only two runs from seven deliveries while changing a below-par target of under 200 runs. Rahul was trapped by Shakib Al Hasan early in India’s chase.
Following Rahul’s dismal show, several fans slammed and trolled the right-hander for his poor form. Rahul’s place in the team has been questioned since his selection in the Indian side from Asia Cup 2022 followed up by the T20 World Cup and other series as well.
Fans reacted angrily to Rahul’s continual poor performances and accused him of performing well only in the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).
“KL Rahul be like apun to sirf IPL me hi runs maarega,” a fan tweeted.
“This KL Rahul and the other Rahul should be permanently sacked #BANvIND,” wrote another fan.
Notably, Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked three wickets in a stunning spell as India suffered a top-order collapse in a chase of 145 to end day three of the second Test at 45/4 in 23 overs. The visitors still require 100 more runs with six wickets in hand on a deteriorating pitch against Bangladesh to win the second Test.
Bangladesh were reeling at 113/6 in their second innings. But Litton Das’ counter-attacking 73 helped the hosts get 118 runs off the last four wickets. He led a spirited fightback with crucial partnerships of 46 with Nurul Hasan, who made 31 and 60 with Taskin Ahmed, who was unbeaten on 31, as Bangladesh made 231 in 70.2 overs.
