Gautam Gambhir is likely to become the new head coach after Raul Dravid's term ends following the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Reports say Gambhir and WV Raman were the only ones who applied for the head coach position.

According to a recent report from Navbharat Times, Gambhir met with the BCCI's Cricket Administrative Committee (CAC) last week. During the meeting, he presented five conditions that must be met for him to accept the role of India's head coach.

Let's take a look at the 5 conditions set by Gautam Gambhir, as per a Live Mint report attributed to Navbharat Times:

Firstly, he wants full control over cricket operations for Team India.

Secondly, he wishes to select his own support staff, which currently includes Vikram Rathour as batting coach, Paras Mhambrey as bowling coach, and T Dilip as fielding coach.

Additionally, as per the report, Gambhir's third condition is that he may consider removing senior Indian players including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma if they do not perform well in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.
His fourth condition is to have a separate team dedicated to Test cricket.
Lastly, Gambhir aims to begin planning for the 2027 ODI World Cup right away.

Recently, Gambhir was asked about his thoughts on becoming India's head coach. He said it is hard to give an answer at this time.
