Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) star batsman Virat Kohli and Lucknow Super Giantss (LSG) pacer Naveen-Ul-Haq had an ugly fight during a match at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
The controversy snowballed further and subsequently LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir had a verbal duel with Kohli.
In a recent interaction, Gambhir has made a bold statement on the matter.
The former Indian opener stated that no one could come and walk over my players, and he had all the rights to defend his players after the game.
“As a mentor, no one can come and walk over my players and I’ve got a very different belief. Till the time game was on, I had no right to interfere but once the game was over, if someone still gets into a heated argument with my players, I’ve got all the rights to defend them,” said the former southpaw.
Gambhir’s statement has gone viral over social media platform X (earlier known as Twitter).
Several fans had flooded the comment box with mixed comments.
“Spitting truth bombs and will also contradict his past statements,” wrote a fan.
“It’s been 13 years and this guy still giving interviews and crying about 2011 credit. Why Sachin never said he was highest scorer for India, why zaheer khan who was most imp bowler and highest wicket taker don’t give this controversial interviews?” tweeted another fan.
In response to Gambhir’s statement, a third user commented, “He is always Gambhir with anyone else.”
