Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, along with a few other Pakistan cricketers, has a history of reversing their retirement decisions in international cricket.
Afridi initially retired in May 2011 as a protest against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). However, he reversed his decision later tin the same year in October following a change in leadership within the PCB. The 47-year-old announced his international retirement once again in 2017. But, he briefly returned to the game in 2018 before retiring for the final time in May.
Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina made a cheeky dig at Afridi while doing commentary during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Qualifier 1 match between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday.
When asked by former India opener Aakash Chopra if he had any intentions of coming out of retirement, Raina humorously responded that he is not Afridi.
"I am Suresh Raina, not Shahid Afridi," said Raina.
Notably, this witty exchange between the two led to a moment of shared laughter.
