Champions Trophy: Former India great makes explosive statement on Jasprit Bumrah’s Injury

Concern has been raised over injury to many key players of the Indian cricket team. In response, former World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev also expressed his concern over the development.

The former all-rounder attributed it to the demanding schedule that keeps players in action for almost 10 months each year.

Though Team India’s premier speedster Jasprit Bumrah was included in India’s provisional squad for the Champions Trophy, he was eventually excluded from the squad due to the injury he sustained in the final Test against Australia.

“The only thing that worries me is that if they play for 10 months a year, injuries will be much more common. Why talk about someone who is not in the team? It’s a team game, and the team has to win, not individuals. This is not badminton, tennis, or golf; we are playing a team sport in the Champions Trophy. If we play as a team, we will definitely win,” said Kapil.

“You never want your main players to get injured, but if it happens, you can’t do anything about it. Good luck to my Indian team. Go and play well,” he added.
