The disagreement began in the Diamond hospitality box, involving the families of a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and an Income Tax commissioner. The daughter of the IPS officer occupied one of the seats but temporarily left to use the facilities, leaving her belongings to indicate the seat's occupancy.

Upon her return, a man, later identified as a relative of the Income Tax commissioner, had taken her seat. Despite her brother’s request for him to vacate it, the man remained seated. The situation quickly escalated into a heated exchange.

Escalation and Response

The confrontation intensified as the man's wife, an official within the Income Tax department, entered the fray with their son. A strong verbal exchange ensued, culminating in a direct confrontation between the IPS officer's daughter and the man.

The siblings called for their parents, prompting their father to arrive at the stadium for support. Despite reaching out to colleagues for intervention, they received no immediate assistance. Meanwhile, their mother reported the incident at the Cubbon Park police station, citing alleged improper physical contact and a breach of privacy, corroborated by video evidence recorded by the other party's son.

Official Action

Authorities are now investigating the complaint lodged by the mother, focusing on the serious allegations of assault and privacy invasion. The IPL management has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident, although discussions on stadium protocol may arise following the incident.
