MS Dhoni likely to lead CSK
Five times champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) in a match of the IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday.
However, regular skipper of CSK Ruturaj Gaikwad is down with an elbow injury and he is likely to sit out the crucial match.
Gaikwad was hit during the previous contest against Rajasthan Royals and hasn’t recovered yet. CSK batting coach Michael Hussey has already hinted about the possibility of Gaikwad missing the game. Hussey also indicated about the possible return of Dhoni as the captain of the team.
"Gaikwad is injured and pain is still there. We will take a call on the match day. If he misses out, we will have to find a new captain," said Hussey.

Notably, veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Dhoni is not at his best in IPL 2025 due to growing age and knee issues. As per sources, the former Captain Cool is likely to leave the wicket-keeping for the important match to concentrate on leadership and manage his workload.
In response to the possibility, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh said, "You can’t think beyond MS Dhoni. He is the only option, and I don’t think anyone else will lead CSK against Delhi."
"MS Dhoni will run the show from behind the stumps, but who will replace Ruturaj Gaikwad as a batter? He was scoring runs for the side,” said former spinner Piyush Chawla.
