Champions Trophy: Doubt over renovation works at Pakistan stadiums to be completed in time

Pakistan will host the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, with less than 20 days to go for the mega event, the renovation works at the stadiums in Pakistan are yet to be completed.

As per reports published in some sections of Pakistan media, it is ‘absolutely impossible’ for the task to be finished in time for the mega event.

The deadline for the works to be completed is currently set for January 31. However, Pakistan publication The Dawn has expressed doubt that the renovation works at the stadium is impossible to be completed before the deadline.

“It seems absolutely impossible to contemplate the renovation work being completed within the deadline. However, the personnel handed the responsibility are beaming with confidence,” the report claimed.

As per the report, while the renovation works at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore is in its final phase, work is still pending at the National Bank stadium in Karachi.

Moreover, a source from PCB has expressed doubt over the board’s ability to deliver in time.

“Look, the stadiums will be in a shape to host matches but the question is the PCB has promised everyone a world-class experience at these renovated venues for the Tri-series and Champions Trophy and whether they can deliver on that promise remains to be seen,” said the PCB source.
