Delhi opted to field first, which proved effective as Railways struggled, losing their fourth wicket at 66 runs. Navdeep Saini, a former India international, made notable contributions by securing the third wicket, drawing cheers from Kohli and jubilant teammates.

Outside the stadium, the day was not without disruption. Crowding led to pushing and shoving, resulting in some injuries as many fans were knocked to the ground due to the massive crowd. At least three people required medical attention. A police motorcycle was also damaged during the pandemonium, with abandoned footwear and personal items marking the scene. Quick response medical treatment was provided by Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) officials and police.
