IPL 2025: Chahal on cloud nine after getting special gift from Dhoni; trolled by Maxwell

Punjab Kings spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was elated to receive a special gift from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a bat after one of their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 encounters. 

This gesture is particularly meaningful to Chahal, as Dhoni played a pivotal role in his early international cricket career by handing him his first cap.

Dressing Room Trolling

However, the joyous moment turned light-hearted when Glenn Maxwell, Chahal's teammate, playfully teased him in the team dressing room. Maxwell jested about Chahal's limited batting opportunities in the current IPL season, remarking, 'You get subbed out in every game.'

Adding to the camaraderie, another teammate, Priyansh Arya, humorously speculated, 'Some kid in Haryana is going to take this bat for sure,' hinting at the prized nature of the bat now in Chahal's possession.

Cricketing Resurgence

Despite his limited role with the bat, Chahal has demonstrated a remarkable resurgence as a bowler. Primarily utilised as an 'Impact Player' in the IPL matches, he has taken nine wickets in the latter half of the season.
