Sanju Samson
As India gears up to face the UAE in their Asia Cup 2025 opener on Wednesday, September 10, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, questions are swirling around Sanju Samson’s place in the Indian XI. However, captain Suryakumar Yadav chose not to reveal any specifics, keeping the suspense alive.
With intense competition for the wicketkeeper-batter slot between Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma, Suryakumar remained tight-lipped during the captain’s meeting on September 9, held ahead of the Afghanistan vs Hong Kong match.
When asked directly about Samson’s chances of making it to the playing XI against the UAE, Yadav playfully dodged the question. Displaying his trademark humor, he assured the media that he would personally send the journalist the final XI. He also emphasized that the team is looking after Samson well, but refrained from giving any concrete information.
Speaking at the press conference in Dubai, Suryakumar Yadav said, “Sir, aapko main playing XI message karta hoon (I will message you the playing XI). But rest assured, we are taking good care of him. Don’t worry, the right decision will be made tomorrow.”
