The special court established under Orissa Special Court Act 2006, passed orders of confiscation of the property including a double storied building here, a plot at Cuttack, gold ornaments and deposits in bank of Sanjib Kumar Ray, IAS, retired from government service in 2004 as an additional secretary in Cooperation department, an official said.
A case of corruption was registered against Ray`s name ten years ago on July 17, 2001 when he was vice-chairman of Chilika Development Authority.
Ray, also the first bureaucrat in the state, had been convicted by the special court on corruption charge. He had been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years and to pay fine of Rs 1,00,000 .
In default of payment of fine, the court ordered him to undergo RI for six months more for possession of disproportionate assets.
This is the second confiscation order by the Authorised Officer of the Special Court, here. The first order was against Ramesh Charan Behera, IAS, Ex Additional Secretary, Housing &Urban Development Department. A case of disproportionate case was pending against Behera.
Meanwhile, sources said, the anti-corruption wing had registered corruption cases against 37 IAS officers, 11 IPS officers and 23 IFS officers.
