Berhampur: Six persons were arrested and huge quantities of explosives seized by the police from different places in Ganjam district for illegally storing and transaction of these materials, police said on Thursday.
While around 900 detonators, 50 kg ammonium nitrate, 32 gelatine sticks and 400 meters of fuse wire were seized from the house of Kora Sethi at Ankuli in the town, around 100 detonators, 50 kg ammonium nitrate were seized from a car near Gokarneswar under Digapahandi police station.
"We have arrested six persons in this connection," the police said.
Kora, the main accused, claimed he had kept these to supply to the quarries near the town. "Investigation is in progress," said inspector in-charge (Baidyanath Pur) police Dipak Mishra.
