A high-octane drama was seen on full flow at Rajnagar in Kendrapara district after a group of BJD leaders reportedly sprinkled cow dung water at a venue where the Congress party staged a sit-in protesting irregularities in the distribution of relief materials.

A group of Congress members led by former MLA Ansuman Mohanty had staged a hunger strike in front of the Baghamari panchayat office in Rajnagar block protesting massive irregularities in the distribution of relief food.

They alleged that sacks of flatten rice meant for cyclone-affected people were buried underground after the dry foods were rotten. The Congress party sought to know the circumstances that led to wastage of such large quantities of food materials.

The party had also submitted a memorandum to the local BDO demanding investigation and action against the officials who failed to distribute the food to the needy during a time of disaster.

However, the BDO allegedly didn't pay any heed to the demands of the Congress party, protesting which the party resorted to hunger strike in front of the panchayat office on Tuesday.

Soon after they withdrew the strike, a group of BJD members took out a rally to the panchayat office raising slogan against the Congress party.

The BJD claimed that food items were not buried while Congress is doing cheap politics over it. The party members later sprinkled cow dung water on the Congress' protest venue as a mark of protest.
