Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday heaped praises on Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for making efforts in bringing reforms in mining sectors in sync with the Centre’s vision.
Replying to the Motion of Thanks debate in Rajya Sabha, the Prime Minister said that the reforms in coal mining have resulted in a significant increase in profits from Rs.14,000 crore to Rs. 35,000 crore.
“The State governments have received the revenue generated from the auction which has benefited them and the states’ benefit is the country’s benefit,” Modi mentioned in his speech in the Upper House of the Parliament.
“Odisha is the first State to have introduced the reforms. So, I congratulate CM Naveen Patnaik led government for working shoulder to shoulder with the Centre,” Modi praised.
The PM tore into the Congress at the Rajya Sabha and said if the party wasn't there, the country would not have had to suffer the dynastic politics and multiple atrocities like the massacre of Sikhs, the crimes against Kashmiri Pandits, among others.
Modi reiterated that once it was said in the House that Congress laid India's foundation and BJP just hoisted a flag.
"It's the result of serious thinking that's dangerous to the nation - some people believe that India was born in 1947. Problems arise due to this thinking. This democracy is not due to your (Congress') generosity.
Earlier on Monday, the PM launched a scathing attack on Congress and said the party has been voted out of power by people across many states in the Country since a long time, including Odisha.
