It seems like the Odisha Congress is struggling to keep its leaders together ahead of the crucial 2024 elections as several prominent ones are quitting the party.

This time veteran leader Chiranjib Biswal has tendered his resignation from the Indian National Congress. Biswal has submitted his resignation to Odisha Pradesh Congress (PCC) president Sarat Pattanayak.

"I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress," read Biswal's resignation letter.

Biswal, who is the son of former deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, Basant Biswal, was Congress MLA from Jagatsinghpur district from 2014 to 2019. His brother Ranjib Biswal was also a Congress' Rajya Sabha member.

Biswal is considered to be a heavyweight leader having clout beyond Jagatsinghpur district. He had also discharged his duties as the working president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) in the past.
