The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused two police officials of violating the model code of conduct(MCC) in Cuttack.

Ramnarayan Mohanty, general secretary of the BJP’s Cuttack unit, alleged that IIC of Choudwar police station Biswaranjan Sahu and sub-inspector Saraswati Sahu attended a programme organised by the  Biju Janata Dal(BJD) on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr at Brahmapur under Choudwar police limits.

The banners of the BJD were hung at the programme while photos of sitting MLA of Aathgarh Raja Swain were in the banners. The progamme was orgnaised by the MLA’s representative Sheikh Shahnawaz, the BJP leader said.

The presence of two police officials, that to on the dais, is glaring violation of the poll code of conduct. Even the two police officials were feted by the BJD workers there. The police officials also delivered their speeches, Mohanty claimed.

The BJP leaders said that his party has drawn the attention of the Election Commission of India towards such clear violation of MCC and the party has demanded immediate action against the officials who are becoming partisan.

This indicates that the BJD which is scared of its future poll results, is using police officials in political programmes while their neutrality has come under scanner.

However, no reaction from the BJD about the allegation has been received.
