Senior leader and former chairperson of Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) Sandhyabati Pradhan on Monday tendered her resignation from the primary membership of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

In her resignation letter to BJD supremo and CM Naveen Patnaik, Pradhan wrote, “I am veritably pained to tender my resignation from the primary membership of Biju Janata Dal as I strongly feel our voices do not reach your goodself since you are surrounded by a coterie with a vested personal interest. Your door seems to be closed to listen to our grievances, suggestions and advice.”

According to Pradhan, she did her assigned duties assiduously towards vibrant empowerment of women and in the field of protection of rights of children.

"Whatever onerous duties were given to me, I was discharged with utmost sincerity. Under your instructions and guidance I did my best to fetch women empowerment and child protection matters to a standardized level," she wrote.

“As I am disillusioned with the present state of affairs in Biju Janata Dal, I regretfully have taken this decision to leave the Biju Janata Dal and hence, tender my resignation from the primary membership of this political party,” Pradhan wrote in her resignation letter.

BJD leaders could not be contacted over the allegations made by Sandhyabati Pradhan.
