After witnessing a fight between former IAS and IPS officer in 2019 elections, the stage is all set in 2024 to witness a more intense battle for the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat.

The BJP has re-nominated the former IAS officer Aparajita Sarangi who had defeated BJD’s leader and former IPS officer Arup Patnaik in the last polls. Sarangi had won by a margin of over 20000 votes.

This time the BJD has nominated senior leader Sura Routray’s son Manmath for the Bhubaneswar Parliamentary segment.

The Congress has nominated young leader- Yasir Nawaz for the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha segment.

Details Of Candidates For Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha Seat:

Aparajita Sarangi, BJP

Backed by 11 years of service, Aparajita Sarangi took electoral plunge in 2018. During her instinct a bureaucrat, Sarangi served as Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Aparajita joined the Indian Administrative Service from 1994 batch of Odisha cadre.

Manmath Routray, BJD

Manmath Routray is the son of six-time MLA Suresh Routray. Manmath was a pilot and recently opted to join the electoral politics. Despite his father being a senior leader of Congress once, Manmath decided to join the BJD.

Soon after joining the BJD, he was made the party’s candidate for the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat.

Syed Yashir Nawaz, Congress

Yashir is a youth leader and the Congress has given him a big responsibility by nominating him for the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat.

The president of the students’ wing of the Congress, Yashir will lock horns with BJP’s sitting MP and  bureaucrat-turned-politician Aparajita Sarangi and the BJD’s pilot-turned-politician Manmath Routray.
