The plot has already thickened across Odisha for the upcoming General Elections. The poll atmosphere at the Bonda Ghat area in Malkangiri district has also intensified. However, the primitive Bonda tribes in the area, who have been still deprived of many basic amenities provided by the government, have vowed to vote for the party and the candidate who is committed to undertaking development activities in their area.

As per the allegations by some residents, they don’t have basic amenities in their area like road communication and drinking water facilities. However, no political party is concerned about their ordeal.

“Leaders of various political parties only visit our area during the time of elections and they hold meetings to woo voters to vote for them. They also give many assurances to the people. However, they forgot their promises as soon as the election is finished,” rued a local.

“We will vote for the party and the candidate on whom we will have belief that they will continue development activities in our area,” he added.

“We don’t have basic amenities like road communication and drinking water facilities in our area. We will only vote for the candidate who will meet and discuss with us about our problems even after the election and continue the development activities in our area,” said another resident.

Notably, voting for the upcoming General Elections and Assembly polls will be held in Odisha simultaneously in four phases. As per the announcement by ECI, voters can cast their votes on four dates- May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1.
