Amid reports that the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) may field former Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patasani in the Chilika Assembly constituency, the veteran leader on Tuesday gave some broad hints about such a possibility.

A meeting of the party observers and MLAs of the Puri Parliamentary constituency was held at Naveen Niwas to assess the party’s preparedness and discuss strategies for the upcoming elections on Monday.

Reliable sources had said that the party is mulling to give Patasani a ticket for the Chilika seat.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the BJD veteran said, "A meeting was held at Naveen Niwas yesterday. There was an elaborate discussion about the Chilika Assembly seat. Chilika is my village. I have been elected as MLA four times from the neighbouring Khordha Assembly seat. The relation between Chilika and Banpur is very old.”

“If the party is taking a decision, who am I to refuse it? I can deal with any challenge,” he observed.

However, no reaction was received from the BJD in this connection.
