The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has not been able to work out the political arithmetic in finalizing its candidate for the Balikuda-Erasama Assembly seat under the Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha segment.
The ruling party is brainstorming on backing the right horse for the upcoming election.
Supporters of sitting BJD MLA Raghunandan Das have been waiting for the party’s decision. They gathered at the residence of Raghunandan Das in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Given the inordinate delay, they are said to be sceptical of the candidature of the incumbent MLA.
On the other hand, the sitting MLA observed, "It is natural on the part of supporters to be apprehensive about the ticket. A party may have many aspirants and a lot of speculations will happen.”
Amid all this, he sounded optimistic about his selection.
The BJD leader said, “During my tenure as minister, I have never committed any mistake. Hence, the Chief Minister will take a call at the right moment.”
