During campaigning for the upcoming elections, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA candidate for the Baramba constituency, Debi Prasad Mishra faced a humiliating situation for an hour at Manapur when some villagers surrounded him over drinking water issues.

Opposing the campaigning by the senior BJD leader, the villagers clamoured for immediate measures for drinking water. The angry locals staged a protest by laying pots, buckets and utensils on the road.

Later, they turned away the campaign vehicle of Mishra, shouting, "No water and no votes for the BJD.”

Chadrakanti Sethi, a woman lamented, "For the last two years, we have not been getting drinking water. Despite several complaints, we are not supplied water. As the leader came, we staged a protest.”

BJD’s Cuttack Lok Sabha candidate Santrupt Mishra was also present in the rally.

Later, Maniabandh police and Athagarh SDPO pacified the agitating villagers.

However, no reaction was received from the BJD leader.
