Soon after being released on interim bail, newly-elected Khordha MLA Prashant Jagdev on Sunday took a jibe at BJD president Naveen Patnaik. While talking to reporters, Jagdev said that Naveen Patnaik's love for VK Pandian is far from ending anytime soon.

Jagdev's remarks came a day after the BJD president came in defense of the bureaucrat-turned-politician VK Pandian who is now the eye of the storm following BJD's defeat in the 2024 elections, the results of which were announced recently.

The BJP has registered a thumping victory in the elections by winning 78 assembly seats out of the total 147 seats. The oath-taking ceremony of the new BJP government is scheduled to be held on June 10.

"I thank the people of Khordha for showering their love and blessings on the BJP and me," Jagdev said.

Earlier, the newly elected MLA was arrested on May 25 in connection with the alleged EVM toppling case at a booth. His arrest had triggered resentment with the BJP accusing the BJD of hatching a conspiracy against him.

The Additional District Judge Court-1 of Khordha recently granted interim bail to the newly elected BJP legislator for three days - June 9, 10, and 11.

Jagdev has been granted bail on 3 grounds including, participation in the last rites of his nephew, attending the swearing-in ceremony of the new government, and on health grounds.

Meanwhile, no comments could be obtained from the BJD leaders over statements made by Jagdev.
