Joint teams have been formed with other enforcement agencies for the enforcement and for total stoppage of any freebies in Odisha during the upcoming General Elections, informed Odisha Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur on Monday.

Thakur further informed that raids are also underway to stop the immoral means during the polling time.

“Odisha has 21 Lok Sabha constituencies and 147 Assembly constituencies spread over about 30,688 locations. The total number of booths is a little more than 30,800. For all these booths, our prime responsibility is to provide vehicles for the polling party to reach the booths,” Thakur told ANI.

“Apart from that, whatever guidelines have been stipulated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the observers, for the mobile parties, we have to provide vehicles for all these arrangements. We have to deploy buses for the movement of force and even for the polling parties at cluster locations. We have also formed joint teams with other enforcement agencies for enforcement and for total stoppage of any freebies,” he added.
