The Odisha unit of the BJP is already in poll mode and has chalked out its strategy ahead of the crucial 2024 elections, the dates of which were announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

BJP's state election committee meeting was held Saturday and discussions were held on the candidates for the assembly elections and the Lok Sabha polls, sources said.

The meeting was chaired by state BJP president Manmohan Samal and other senior leaders of the party.

Senior BJP leader Pratap Sarangi on Sunday said that the party's preparation is almost complete for the election. The shortlisting of probable candidates has been done and the list will be sent to the high command today. The names of candidates will be announced from Delhi, he said.

Saffron party’s Odisha election in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar said, "All discussions on how to connect with people, vehicles and other aspects including management were held. We have enough time and the names of candidates will also be announced." 

The BJP has decided to reach out to 1 crore people in Odisha with the letter written by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote an open letter to all citizens of the country and sought suggestions for shaping the Union government’s “Viksit Bharat” agenda.

Modi appealed to the people to construct a ‘Viksit Bharat’ or a developed India and said that the beauty of democracy lies in ‘Janbhagidari’ (public participation).

Apart from this, the BJP will also highlight the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government in the last 10 years as part of its strategy for the 2024 polls.

Odisha will vote in the Lok Sabha elections and Assembly polls, which will be held simultaneously in four phases. The polling will be held on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1 as per the ECI announcement.
