Only after the official announcement by ECI, it will become clear that in how many phases the elections will be held this year.

In 2019, the elections were held across the country in seven phases.

As adequate time is required, ECI has decided to announce the dates at the earliest. Once the poll dates are announced, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will come into effect.

The announcement of poll dates assumes significance in the backdrop that the ECI held discussions with senior officials in various states including Odisha.

Already ECI has taken all requisite steps to ensure that the crucial elections are held in peaceful and without any incidents across the country.
