Tension flared up during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s mishran parv at Jhariabahal under Laikera tehsil in Jharsuguda district on Tuesday after some youths created a ruckus and ransacked the stage.

According to sources, the BJP was organizing a mishran parv at Jhariabahal for the people of four panchayats when some youths reached the venue and started creating a ruckus by throwing chairs.

Pointing an accusing finger, BJP leader Tankadhar Tripathy alleged that BJD workers created a disturbance at the mishran parv at the behest of Jharsuguda MLA Deepali Das and her family members.

“At the instance of a local legislator, some goons today created disturbances at the mishran parv. Sensing their defeat, they are trying to intimidate people. They were hurling chairs placed on the stage in the presence of police. However, they couldn’t face the strong opposition from women and left the place,” said Tripathy.

“If the BJD, local MLA, and her supporters are thinking that they could suppress the people by employing goons or by intimidating them, they have got another think coming. Here the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is increasing. The people of this locality will give them a befitting reply at the right time,” he added.

No comments were received from the BJD.
