Former MP from Bargarh, Prabhas Singh, who recently quit the BJD, came down heavily on the party and predicted that the BJD Lok Sabha candidate will bite the dust in the upcoming election.

Notably, in the Bargarh Parliamentary seat, the BJD has fielded a new face, Parinita Mishra, who quit the BJP and joined the ruling party.

In an exclusive interview with Swadheen Rout of Odisha Reporter, Singh asserted that the BJD candidate will definitely be defeated and it will be clear after the declaration of results.

He also asserted that the BJP will fare well while the BJD’s results will be disappointing in the upcoming elections in the district.

The former MP further asked if you plant an imported leader in the LS seat and that too when the party has got negative feedback about its poll prospects, will people accept it?

“There is no internal democracy in the party. The district unit presidents or any other functionaries are just kept for name’s sake. As per my assessment, there are several issues in the constituency. Suddenly planting a leader from another party will not be acceptable to the people,” he observed.

Singh objected to the way the candidate was selected for the Lok Sabha seat. He said that he was the BJD’s district unit president, but the candidate from the other party joined and hours later she was declared candidate even without any consultations with him.

He added that the party should have weighed the allegiance, winnability and other factors of the nominee.

“When a candidate is selected, the district unit president is not consulted,” he lamented.

No comments were received from the BJD.
