The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday accused the BJD-led Odisha government of misleading people by hijacking central schemes and presenting them as its own.

At a presser in Bhubaneswar, BJP leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar alleged that be it the Biju Pucca Ghar or SHG training, the BJD government is trying to copy-paste the Central schemes and funds and claiming its own.

“The Odisha government has been hijacking the Central schemes and withdrawn some of it after being caught. The PM Awas Yojana is completely a Central scheme and the BJD is misleading people by terming it as Biju Pucca Ghar and putting up boards at several places. Reality is that the state government has made no budgetary provisions for it,” alleged Samantsinghar.

"Not only this, the Centre is providing free ration and the state government was trying to mislead people by saying that it was being provided by the BJD. Attempts were also being made to distribute bags with the BJD logo and picture to take mileage," the BJP leader alleged. Samantsinghar further stated that the state government is not issuing any clarification in this regard.

"For SHGs, training of women and other aspects are being done by the Centre as part of PM Modi’s vision to empower women. The Naveen-Patnaik government is stealing the brand of the Central schemes. It is just like PM Modi is providing books but the Odisha government is using its own cover and misleading people. The BJD is misleading women in the name of empowerment and engaging them in their own party works,” Samantsinghar alleged.

No reaction was received from the BJD leaders in this regard.
