The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) expelled party leader and former block chairperson of Kankadahada in Dhenkanal district, Kartik Sahu for anti-party activities on Wednesday.

According to a press release by the BJD, the party’s organizational secretary, Pranab Prakash Das expelled Sahu days after the latter organized a massive rally at Kankadahada. Over 8,000 to 10,000 people attended the meeting in the name of Bandhu Milan.

For the last several days, Sahu has been organizing parallel rallies against the incumbent MLA of Parjang. He had earlier asserted that his rallies were meant to strengthen the party base and thousands of people attended the meeting out of love for the party.

However, his reaction was not received.

Local BJD leader Rajkishore Sahu said, "Former block chairperson Kartik Sahu organised the rally by putting posters and banners of the BJD. In fact, MLA Nrusingha Sahu is looking after the organization. But Kartik Sahu, by taking various pleas, is organising rallies. Many people were told that 5T chairperson VK Pandian will come to the meeting.”
