Putting all speculations regarding his next political move to rest, former Rajnagar MLA and a Congress leader until two days ago, Anshuman Mohanty joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday at the Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. 

Anshuman, son of former minister Nalini Mohanty tendered his resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress two days ago. 

He joined the BJD in the presence of Kendrapada’s BJD MLA and his own supporters.

Speaking to the media, Mohanty said, “Today is a very auspicious day for me. Inspired by the Chief Minister’s clean and development-oriented rule, I joined the BJD in the presence of my family members of Pattamundai and Rajnagar.”
Anshuman was elected from Rajnagar constituency to the Odisha Assembly in 2014. 

Earlier on February 13, Biplab Jena, a known face in the political circle of Angul and former president of the District Congress Committee, had resigned from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress.
