In the coming General Elections, a total of 3,32,00,000 voters will exercise their franchise at 37,809 stations in Odisha, informed the Chief Election Commissioner of India (CEC), Rajiv Kumar on Saturday. 

While addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar, the CEC disclosed about the significant measures taken for election transparency. 

“There will be a total of 37,809 polling stations. Of them, 4,340 stations are urban ones and 33,469 are rural ones. There will be webcasting arrangements in more than 50 percent of polling stations. So, out of 37,809 polling stations, there would be webcasting arrangements in 22, 685 booths,” he said. 

“There would be 300 polling stations which will be manned by persons with disabilities. Similarly, there will be 700 booths which will be manned by young employees. Likewise, there will be 4000 polling stations which will be managed by only women,” he said. 

Regarding the facilities at the polling stations, he said, “There would be assured minimum facilities at all the polling stations.  There would be drinking water facility, ramp facility, toilet facility, etc.”

While saying that the ECI is fully prepared for both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, he urged all voters to participate in the festival of democracy.
