Not only did the BJP get a thumping majority in the Assembly election by winning 78 seats out of the total 147 seats, but the party also registered a clean sweep in the Lok Sabha battle by winning 20 seats out of the total 21 in Odisha. The BJP dethroned the ruling BJD which was in power in Odisha since 2000. If we look at the tally of the 2019 Assembly elections, the BJD won 113 seats, BJP got 23 seats and Congress won 9 seats. However, the BJP got a thumping majority by winning 78 seats in the 147 seats in the Assembly and 20 out of 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha elections 2024, the results of which were announced on Tuesday.

Here Are 10 Top Reasons Believed To Be Behind BJD’s Ouster:

1. Disrespect to Odia Asmita (pride)

2. Missing Ratna Bhandar keys and non-reopening of all gates of Puri Srimandir

3. Dominance of non-Odia in Naveen Patnaik government

4. VK Pandian’s dictatorship in party and sidelining BJD leaders

5. Naveen Patnaik not spearheading election campaign and handing over baton to VK Pandian

6. Not elected representatives, bureaucrats are everything in governance

7. Hoodwinking people in the name of 5T Transformation

8. Rise in crime against women and children

9. Rampant corruption and Percentage Culture

10. Anti-incumbency
