The inaugural day of Odisha Assembly’s winter session saw Archana Nag’s case rock the walls of the House on Thursday.
The Opposition including the BJP and Congress demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik alleging he has turned a mute spectator of this fiasco.
Leading the protest in the House, senior Congress leader, Narasingha Mishra said, “The investigation by the ED is on the right path. The ED has questioned and arrested the persons the Police had spared earlier, proving, the police is hand in gloves with the criminals.”
He demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister alleging inaction by the police in this connection.
The BJP too made it a point to hound the State government over the Archana Nag case which allegedly has the involvement of many political leaders, a majority from the ruling BJD.
“The silence of the Chief Minister is pointing fingers at the BJD leaders’ involvement in the case. So, CM Naveen should resign from his position without any delay,” demanded Mohan Majhi, Opposition Chief Whip.
The BJD on the other hand refrained to comment on the allegations. Asked about the case, BJD MLA, Ashwini Patra said, “No Comments.”
Meanwhile, a production petition has been filed before the district judge court by the ED. The court has approved ED's petition, following which Archana Nag, husband Jagabandhu Chand will be produced before the court on November 30.
