A three-member central BJP team which is on a two-day visit to Odisha to ascertain facts on the Mamita Meher murder case on Friday met the family of the victim at her native Jharni village under Tureikela block of Bolangir district.

The BJP team, comprising the party’s Mahila Morcha National President Vanathi Srinivasan, Lok Sabha member from Haryana Sunita Duggal and West Bengal MLA Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury spoke to the parents of the victims and offered their condolences.

The delegation is also scheduled to visit the crime spot- Mahaling Stadium-- where Mamita’s body was burnt and later buried in a 10-feet deep pit by Gobinda Sahu, the main accused on the sensational murder case. The team will later submit a report to party’s National President JP Nadda.

Meanwhile, the three-member team has cast doubts over the police investigation into the case and demanded the dismissal of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra from the Cabinet.

“We have come here for ground inspection and spoke to the family members of the victim in detail. We will prepare a report in this regard and submit it to Naddaji. Her (Mamita’s) parents want death sentence for those involved in the murder case and we will try our best to ensure justice to the victim’s family,” said Duggal after meeting deceased Mamita’s parents.

Srinivasan said, “The family is in shock. We have doubt on the process of investigation by the police department. How did Gobinda Sahu escape from police custody? The close links of the Minister (Mishra) with the main accused has been established. We demand the resignation of the Minster,” said the party’s Mahila Morcha National President.

Earlier on Thursday, a fact-finding team of the Indian National Congress, including senior Congress leader and AICC General Secretary Randeep Surjewala and party’s Odisha in-charge A Chellakumar had met the family of deceased Mamita. The team put forth several demands-- SIT probe under the supervision of the Chief

Justice of Orissa High Court, criminal conspiracy charges under section 120 (B) of the IPC against Minister Mishra and his dismissal from the Cabinet for enabling an impartial probe into the case.
