The controversy surrounding the scuffle between BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Odisha Assembly Jayanarayan Mishra and lady police IIC of Dhanupali police station escalated further with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Mahila Morcha staging a protest at the Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. The protestors demanded action against Mishra.

On Wednesday, BJP members led by LoP Mishra took out a massive rally from Ashapali School under Dhanupali police limits in Sambalpur district, protesting against the deteriorating law and order situation in the State. When the party members tried to gherao the Collector’s office, the police resisted them leading to a scuffle between Mishra and Dhanupali police station IIC Anita Pradhan.

Protesting against the way Mishra behaved with the woman police officer, hundreds of members of BJD Mahila Morcha staged a protest at the Lower PMG, demanding action against the BJP leader.

At the same time, the members of BJD Mahila Morcha and leaders staged a demonstration in front of the circuit house in Sambalpur. The venue was chosen because LoP Mishra often stays at the circuit house. However, during the protest, he was not inside the circuit house, it was learnt.

On the other hand, the Inspector General of Police (Northern) range and the Sambalpur Superintendent of Police visited the town police station and initiated a probe into the two cases lodged separately by the BJP and the woman police officer yesterday.
