Former Nabarangpur MP and Congress leader Pradeep Majhi will join the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) formally on Saturday. Several supporters of Majhi, and other Congress leaders and workers will join the ruling party during a Mishrana Parba scheduled to be held in Nabarangpur tomorrow.
 
As per reports, BJD Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik will welcome Majhi and other attendees into the party fold through a virtual programme. Several other senior party leaders and ministers of the government will grace the joining event.

"Many senior political leaders and workers will join BJD officially during the Mishrana Parba tomorrow at around 12 pm in the presence of the BJD's senior leaders, Ministers, MPs and MLAs. BJD organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das will be present at the event as the Chief Guest," said Majhi.

"After joining the party officially, we will give our best efforts to strengthen the party and work for the development of the State," he added. 

As reported earlier, Majhi, who was the working president of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) resigned from the primary membership of the party on October 22. Two days later, he announced his decision of joining BJD.

After resignation, Majhi had said that there is a greater scope of serving people from a regional party in the State as it has a wider base than Congress. Moreover, he stated that he wished to work for the betterment of the Western region of the State for which he resigned from Congress.
