A day after announcing Suryabanshi Suraj as its candidate, the BJP on Monday visited Maa Bhadrakali Temple to seek blessings for their victory before launching their poll campaigning.

BJP’s Odisha Prabhari D Purandeswari, party state president Sameer Mohanty, senior leader Golak Mohapatra and other top leaders, who are camping in Bhadrak to oversee the BJP’s bypoll preparations, visited the temple and offered prayers to Maa Bhadrakali.

Speaking on their strategy, Sameer Mohanty said, “After the sad demise of Bishnu brother, this by election is being conducted. BJP has chosen his son Suryabanshi in his position. We are here today in front of Maa Bhadrakali to seek her blessings for the victory. Like she had blessed Bishnu, she will also bless his son and ensure our victory.”

On the other hand, Suraj was looking after the constituency after his father Bishnu Sethi’s health deteriorated. He has become a familiar face with the constituents and has the advantage of get more votes out of sympathy.

“I am sure that my father’s blessings and people’s love will help us win the election again,” said Suryabanshi Suraj.

Meanwhile, the district administration has made all necessary security arrangements. Worth mentioning, 31 panchayats in Dhamnagar block, 13 GPs in Tihidi block and 11 wards under the newly constituted Dhamnagar NAC will exercise their adult franchise to elect the new MLA.

People will cast their votes in total 252 booths. Meanwhile, 134 booths were shifted from Primary Schools to High Schools.

“The voting will be underway at 252 booths. All political parties have been made aware of the booth list. Now, the nomination process is ongoing and will continue till October 14. The scrutiny will be held on October 15 and candidates can withdraw their names till October 16. All necessary preparations have been made in the booths. The nomenclature of names of a few booths have also been changed,” informed Bhadrak District Collector, Sidheswar Baliram Bandor.
