The two-day-long BJP’s Bhubaneswar district executive meeting kicked off in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. The saffron party’s leaders chalked out a detail strategy to take the reins of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, which has been a BJD bastion.
With the elections to urban civic bodies in the State due early next year, a detailed plan for the polls was prepared and the mantra of success was inculcated in the workers. Among others, State president Samir Mohanty, in-charge of party’s Bhubaneswar district unit Bhuban Moan Jena, Bhubaneswar district president Babu Singh, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, senior leaders like Prakash Mishra and Kharabela Swain were present at the meeting.
Topics ranging from the deteriorating law and order situation, sanitation, drainage and health problems, safety of women to the various issues faced by slum dwellers were discussed in details.
The strategy with respect to how the workers and leaders would take the issues to the people has been prepared. This apart, the party leaders expressed concern over the benefits of several programmes of the Union government not reaching to the targeted sections.
Briefing journalists about the party’s strategy, BJP State president Samir Mohanty said the party has long been fighting for protecting the rights of Bhubaneswar residents. “A fact sheet about how the present government has precariously failed in providing even the basic facilities to the people of Bhubaneswar city will be tabled. The party will continue its fight to safeguard the rights of the people of Bhubaneswar in the coming days,” Mohanty said.
Party’s Bhubaneswar district president Babu Singh said, “As the three-tier Panchayat and urban civic body elections are round the corner, our focus will be on how we will prepare ourselves for the elections and how the grass root level workers will face the challenges.”
