Youth strangles 15-year-old girl to death, dumps her body in a well

In a bone-chilling incident, a youth reportedly strangulated a 15-year-old girl to death and subsequently dumped her body in a well after being infuriated with her marriage proposal. 

The matter came to the fore after the girl’s body was recovered from the well. The heinous incident has been reported from Khuntapali village under Bijepur police limits in Bargarh district.

The deceased has been identified as Rinki (name changed) of Saipalli village under Bijepur police limits.

According to sources, the girl had mysteriously gone missing on March 15. After failing to find her, family members lodged a written complaint in this connection on March 16. 

Based on the complaint, police detained the suspect identified as Chandrasekhar Seth for interrogation. During the probe, Seth confessed to having strangulated Rinki and dumped her body in the well.

Bijepur police along with the forensic team recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. 

According to sources, Seth wasn’t happy as Rinki’s family members were arranging her marriage elsewhere. So, he called Rinki to an isolated place where he killed her before dumping her body into the well, sources added.

Meanwhile, cops have launched a further probe into the incident.

When contacted, Padampur SDPO Bibhuti Bhushan Bhoi said, “A girl had gone missing since March 15 and her brother had lodged a complaint of kidnapping and murder against a youth in this connection. So, we arrested the youth and later recovered the body from an isolated well based on his confession.”

“We have sent the body for autopsy and further probe is on,” he added.
