Bullet shell seized by Rourkela Police
A youth was rendered critical after he was shot at by miscreants during an ongoing marathon in the Sector-3 police station area of Rourkela on early Sunday morning. Sources reported that the victim, identified as Salil Sahu, sustained critical injuries in the gunfire incident and was subsequently admitted to the city’s Ispat General Hospital (IGH) for treatment.
“A mini-marathon was organised at the Sector-2 Durga Puja Field. Many participants had gathered at the spot. Many of us morning walkers were also strolling through the field when we heard loud gunshots,” stated a local eyewitness.
Till the last reports, the condition of the attacked youth was stated to be stable. Meanwhile, Rourkela Sector-3 police arrived at the spot and seized a bullet shell.
However, the motive and identity of those responsible for the shooting remain unknown. Authorities are currently investigating the matter and have not offered any additional comments as of yet.
The shooting case comes just over a month after a similar incident unfolded near the Traffic Gate market in Rourkela on November 4 when a young man was seriously injured after being shot by unknown attackers. Sources had reported that about two to three attackers fired at the youth, identified as Abhesh Ray, and subsequently fled the scene. As per the last available reports, the injured was taken to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH).
A few days back, a minor girl was allegedly abducted and gang raped in Rourkela. She was at Bisra Chowk when three youths kidnapped her and kept her captive in a house where she was gang raped. The matter came to the fore after the rape survivor managed to escape from the captivity and informed her family members.
