While the contingents were marching ahead and tableaux of different states and organisations were trundling down the Kartavya Path in Delhi on the 75th Republic Day on Friday, two women representing Odisha made the state proud.

One of them was Sunita Devi Jena. She was leading the tableau of the Defence Research and Development organisation (DRDO). Holding her head straight, she was moving along the tableau, which showcased the role of women in women empowerment and defence. It is worth mentioning that Sunita is an eminent scientist and a guided missile expert. She is known for her contribution to developing indigenous liquid technology.

Similarly, Tanmayee Mohanty, an assistant commandant of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), gave the Odias a reason to feel proud. In the Republic Day parade on the Kartavya Path, she was leading the all-women contingent of the CISF.

Notably, the Republic Day parade was ‘women-centric’ and it started with the sounds of Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada, etc. played by women.
