The 75th Republic Day was observed at Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar with the unfurling of the National Flag by Governor Raghubar Das on Friday.

The Governor unfurled the Tricolor in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other dignitaries. Das also received the guard of honour while IPS officer AB Shilpa led the parade on the occasion.

A total of 64 contingents including the ITBP, CRPF, BSF, Fire, ODRAF, Odisha Home Guard, RPF, Sainik School Police Band participated in the State-level parade at the Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar.

Apart from that, four cultural groups, a skating team from Odisha Skating Academy and Dare Devils also participated in the parade.

As a guest contingent, Jharkhand Police also joined the Republic Day parade in Bhubaneswar.

On the occasion, tableaux of 12 key departments of the Odisha government including agriculture, health, education, Panchayati raj and drinking water, works department, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, Tourism, OSACS, OMC and fire department were displayed highlighting various initiatives.

A three-tier security arrangement was put in place at the parade ground. About 160 police officers, 300 constables, 90 section police force and 150 home guards were deployed in and around the Gandhi Marg during the Parade. Apart from that QRT, ATS and canine squads were also deployed to deal with any untoward situation.
