Woman sub-inspector attempts suicide over suspected love affair in Odisha’s Bolangir, critical

A female sub-inspector (SI), identified as Kajal Bag, attempted to end her life at her rented accommodation at Gopabandhu Nagar under Saintala block in Balangir district on Wednesday night. She is currently undergoing treatment at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in the district. 

According to the villagers, she was in her rented house on Wednesday night. Then, they could hear her speaking with someone loudly over the phone. Thereafter, she is believed to have consumed some mosquito liquid. On being informed, police reached her house, rescued her and immediately rushed her to Saintala government hospital and then shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital. 

While the reason behind her bid to end her life is yet to be ascertained, a love affair is suspected to be the reason for her attempt on her own life. 

Notably, Sairindri Sahu, a female home guard, not able to bear the inhuman torture of the wife of DIG Brijesh Kumar Rai, attempted suicide by jumping before an approaching train in Sambalpur and lost her both legs. She is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. 

In this regard, action has been taken against DIG Rai and he has been transferred to the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack.
